FAQ

How do I get started with Zoom? Zoom has excellent training material available for free on their website. Click here to view instructional videos, register for live webinars with Zoom experts, or just peruse their FAQ sections.

 

How do I dial-in to an international Zoom meeting? Users wishing to dial-in to an international meeting but have not been provided a phone number may find a complete list of all available countries' phone numbers here. You will need to have the meeting ID and your Zoom User ID handy, as you will be promted to enter them into the phone. NOTE: toll charges applied based on user's phone provider plan.

 

What equipment is available to borrow? The following computer equipment is available to be borrowed by Steward Observatory Faculty and Staff. Please email csg@as.arizona.edu to inquire about availability.

  • 4x Toshiba Chromebooks
  • 4x Jabra 510 Wireless Speaker/Microphone
  • MacBook Pro (Mid 2012)

 

What equipment is available to use in the conference rooms? Steward Observatory has four conference rooms available for use. To view room availability, click here. Below is a list of the equipment provided for use:

How do I sync my computer's time? UITS blocks the ports which are used to communicate with Microsoft's NTP servers. Please set your OS to sync its time with either bigtime.as.arizona.edu or lemontime.as.arizona.edu.

 

Can I request an SSL certificate? Please email Trey Gacon regarding SSL certificates.

 

How do I connect to the network? Steward Observatory does not utilize the DHCP service offered by UITS. In order to make use of the network jacks in the building, users must first register their device with the Computer Support Group. Please email the following information to csg@as.arizona.edu in order to be granted network access:

  • MAC Address (aka Physical Address)
  • User's name
  • Host name
  • Location/Room#
  • Current operating system(s)
  • Whether a public/private IP is needed

 


How do setup email forwarding in Outlook? To forward emails sent to your University email address, please follow this Microsoft guide.


How do I set up email on my phone? It is recommended that you use the Microsoft Outlook mobile app (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store). If you wish to use a third-party email client, please follow this UITS guide on how to do so. Please note: you will need to generate an app password for use with your third-party application. Instructions to do so can be found here.

 

What printers are available to use? Steward Observatory has one publicly available printer. It is located on the third floor, near the stairwell in the faculty wing. The printer's host name is lw5.as.arizona.edu. The printer model is HP LaserJet 500 color M551.
