IDL Software License

Steward Observatory has a 50-seat Departmental license for IDL. Access as well as client installation is granted after request from the Computing Support Group. If you would like to use the IDL module on the HPC you would need to be added by the CSG to a privileged group. To accommodate newer IDL versions, update to the licensing server will occur on Dec 7th, 2023. Please contact the CSG for updates.

My MAC address is entered into the DHCP and I still can’t connect. What gives?

On June 15th, 2021, UITS implemented the 802.1x authentication protocol. This requires all computers to be registered to an individual's NETID for it to be allowed on the network. If you are receiving an IP address similar to “10.252.x.x”, you have not authenticated and must do so. Instructions for authenticating can be found here for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Please submit a ticket to https://support.as.arizona.edu/ should you experience any issues getting online.

Please note: this does not bypass Steward Observatory’s DHCP server. All MAC addresses must still be registered with CSG. See item below.

How do I connect to the network?
Steward Observatory does not utilize the DHCP service offered by UITS.
